Social Entrepreneurship

In all parts of the world, there is ignorance, routine and apathy, just as there is wisdom, innovation and passion.  To change the world, we need not fight the former, but invest in the latter.  In the 21st Century, this transition will be made in large part by Social Entrepreneurs.

Social entrepreneurship is a way of looking at business that incorporates a financial, social, spiritual and environmental bottom line. Social entrepreneurs are individuals with dynamic solutions to society’s most pressing problems. They see a problem and create innovative, untested solutions for positive wide-scale social change.

This is why we’ve created The Dream Lab. Under the guidance of tenured professionals, students will bring their visions to life as they develop the hard skills needed to usher their dreams from idea to reality.

These skills include:

  • Marketing
  • Fundraising
  • Social Networking
  • Board Development
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Non-Profit/For-Profit/Hybrid  Start-Up & Management
  • Sustainable Development
  • Business Plan Writing

Throughout the course of the year, students will take these skills and apply them to a year-long social enterprise.  At the year’s end, these social entrepreneurs will present their projects to students, teachers and potential funders.
